Linharts Inducted into Missouri Hall of Fame
David and Lana Linhart of Leon, Iowa were inducted into
the Missouri Hall of Fame at the annual banquet in Springfield on March 28, 2009. In addition to the cattle operation, the Linharts also own CTI Marketing Inc.
This award recognizes the accomplishments of a Limousin breeder who has been a long-time member of the MLBA, a person of the highest integrity, and one who has demonstrated ongoing leadership in both the MLBA and the breed.
David, from Fayette and Lana, from Lone Elm, MO attended the University of Missouri. After college they spent time in northwest Iowa and southern Minnesota. David worked in the feed business where he developed into a leading expert in the livestock feed formulation industry.
In 1978 they purchased their first Limousin heifers as 4-H projects for their sons Charles and John. The family was busy traveling to local, county and national shows, focusing their efforts on their sons and their Limousin projects. Their farm name at that time was CJ Limousin.
A few years ago they began what is now a thriving cooked molasses feed tub business called CTI Marketing Inc. The management of this operation has now been turned over to their son John. Their other son, Charles, manages their 250 head of Limousin females.
Linhart Limousin relies heavily on AI along with several herd sires and embryo transplants as a means to develop leading genetic improvements for the commercial cattleman and seedstock producers. Their cattle now highlight such events as the Missouri State Fair, the Iowa Beef Expo, the Nebraska Cattlemen’s Classic, and the Black Hills Stock Show.
The Linhart family is an active supporter of the MLBA, the Heartland Limousin Association and NALF. Charles currently serves as the MLBA president and he was recently elected to the NALF board of directors.
Congratulations, Linharts, on this prestigious honor!
